Brian Cashman is on his way to Texas to meet with Andy Pettitte. If any doesn't accept the 10 million dollar, one year deal, it's likely his tenure with the Bronx Bombers will come to an end.
While there is potential for incentives, the 10 million dollar option is not a bad one for Andy. Realistically, with the numbers he put up last year in the AL, I agree with the acessment that he isn't worth 16 million.
One executive, according to the article, apparently believes he's worth 8 million. All the same, the Yankees are willing to give him more than 8 million to return and take the final rotation spot.
It might be hard for Andy to accept, but he isn't a front of a rotation guy right now. Not with C.C. and Wang up there. Like most sentimental fans, I'd love for him to take it. If he doesn't, it's likely on to Ben Sheets.
Just one note, Yankees.com article cites the situation a little differently. Granted, this article isn't as fresh, but this is what it had to say.
Take it for what it is. All the same, Cashman is on his way to see Andy, so we'll probably know sooner than later what Andy wants to do. Cashman doesn't want to wait and has to be ready to move on if Andy isn't interested.
