Cano pulled from Winterball

The Yankees have a tradition of protecting their players during Winter Ball. It's continued this season. It was reported on Yankees.com that they have pulled Cano.

"The Yankees sent a letter to Cano to stop playing, but they didn't offer many details or reasons," Orientales general manager Alfredo Griffin told the Web site.

As I said, this isn't really a shocker. The Yankees are known to do this. They've asked players not to play in numerous events, such as Matsui in the World tourney a year or so ago. You can't blame the Yankees for being slightly concerned about their players getting injured and Cano has played a lot this year.

If you take a look at the article, you'll also notice that Jose Veras, Jonathon Albaladejo(Clippard trade), and Alberto Gonzalez are also taking part in the Winter League and performing well. I'll have to take a look and see what kind of numbers we're looking at later today.

  1. Who We Are Said,

Makes total sense, can't see why Cano was there in the first place.
